It's hard to believe that we are less than 90 days away from our 12 year anniversary. How can that be?  It's satisfying to reflect back on the business we have built, the clients we have served, the talented resources we have engaged on our team, and the opportunities we have to give back to our communities.


We continue to use the word 'passion.'  Simply stated, we are passionate about Leadership.  It's what we do. It fuels us every day. We look for that same passion in our team members and our clients. We live and breathe that credo that suggests you have to love what you do, and do what you love!

We recently read a great blog post by Mike Michalowicz, the author of The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. His post, entitled "5 Attributes of the World's Greatest Business Leaders" highlighted what most of us fundamentally know, but that many of us often fail to put into practice. The 5 attributes he outlined were: Be of the People, Be Humble, Be Simple, Block and Tackle, and Believe in Them! How are you measuring up against these 5 attributes? 

We hope that you are enjoying a fabulous 2011, and that the second half of the year brings you continued joy, happiness, and success. Insights into iAdvance

Our passion and core expertise lies in the area of leadership assessment and coaching. Over the years, these two areas have intersected tremendously and we no longer assess without coaching, nor coach without assessing ... and, of course, central to this, it's all about developing the leaders with whom we work!
At the core, we still believe in creating a forum for helping each individual to recognize his or her strengths and development needs. We leverage the power of the live 360 process, provide customized feedback focused on the nuances of each individual, and spend significant time on intensely personalized coaching.  The end result?  Both our clients and the leaders whom we assess and coach walk away from the process with key-takeaways and an action plan that leads to success. 


2011 has seen us continue to teach HR leaders around the world how to assess talent more effectively. We have also continued to enjoy the results of assessing hundreds of leaders, across all levels, industries, functions and geographies. There is nothing we like better than having a client ask us to assess their high-potential leaders or their senior leadership team. We love to assess, coach, guide, develop leaders to be all they can be!

Insights into LROI 

We continue to serve as the Leadership U for several of our clients and deliver customized leadership experiences for groups ranging in size from 15-50. One element of these programs which we want to highlight is our ability to deliver state-of -the art business simulations as part of our leadership programs. This offering is yet another way in which we strive to differentiate ourselves. 


We have been providing business simulations as part of our leadership curriculum for several years now.  We partner with a terrific company, Market Leadership Systems International, based out of South Africa because they provide the same level of customized expertise that we believe in providing to our clients. Each business simulation is customized to the needs of clients, their industry, and market conditions.  We have all experienced those business 'simulations' that in fact don't simulate anything about our personal workplace.  We ensure that doesn't happen.  In fact, we integrate so well with Christiaan Mostert, our partner at Market Systems Leadership International, that if it weren't for his accent, our clients would be unable to tell who is part of ISHR Group and who comes in from South Africa!

Insights into HBDI 

In our last update, we wrote about the increased momentum we were seeing among our clients to create an internal culture of coaching where company leaders were acting as coaches as a normal part of their operating roles, and reaping the benefits found in an organization where people are coached for behavior, actions and decisions, as opposed to being told what to do, how to think, and how to act.

We continue to see this momentum and we are playing significant roles with many clients as we provide the tools and the coaching to these company leaders as they learn how to be more effective coaches themselves.  This cycle of being coached, learning coaching, practicing coaching, and being coached is a high-touch / high-impact experience that we are delivering to rave reviews. It's proven to be a win/win/win!  Our Guide Coaching (TM) Model provides leaders in the broadest sense of the word with an opportunity to understand what coaching is (and the importance of recognizing what it is not), and tools necessary to become an effective coach.

We use a number of tools as we define and scope our coaching engagements. We are graduates of the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), the worldwide industry leader in coaches training. We also leverage the HBDI or the Birkman Profile in many of our coaching programs.

Our HR OptIn business continues to provide practical, affordable, and actionable solutions for our clients seeking talented HR resources for contract assignments. Our model is simple.  We provide educated, experienced and energized talent on a contract or project basis to help with those HR projects that you don't have the time or specialized expertise to handle. We currently have several resources on assignments taking them around the world to places like Italy, Brazil, France and China (and, of course, throughout the US).
We are proud to remind our clients of our Opting In / Giving Back Program. Every time we place a consultant on assignment, we make a donation in that person's honor to the charity of his or her choice that supports women and/or children globally. It's great to see the list of organizations that we support continue to grow!

Giving Back: ISHR Group is proud to contribute to Emerge Scholarships.

Emerge's mission is to provide scholarships to women whose educations have been interrupted, who have overcome significant obstacles, and who give back to their communities.


Giving Back: 21st Century Leaders For the third year in a row, we enjoyed volunteering with 21st Century Leaders (21CL) last month as we participated in G5, a week-long leadership program held on the campus at Emory University. We  kicked off the program by taking 75 students from across the state of Georgia through the results of their HBDI Profiles to help them better understand their unique leadership style and operating preferences. Our thanks to Herrmann International for donating the HBDI materials. Operated under the charter of Georgia Business Forum, Inc., 21st Century Leaders is a non-profit organization that collaborates with business and education leaders to develop, inspire and nurture students with leadership potential to make a positive impact on their schools, communities and future places of work.
