The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on leadership development. There is almost no limit to the potential of an organization that recruits good people, raises them up as leaders and continually develops them. -- John Maxwell

The Impact of Executive Coaching
Today I had the most fortunate experience to be reminded why I do what I do as an Executive Coach. During a client's feedback session I was told that "this is the most candid, honest and impactful feedback I have ever received in my thirty year career." He went on to ask for clarity on the feedback but more importantly wanted candid advice on what to do about his development needs. As his "coach" I spoke with twelve of his direct reports, peers and managers. These were 30-minute conversations where I was able to probe for specific examples of their input regarding his strengths and development needs. Imagine for a moment what that would be like for you ... what would your colleagues say about you? Bear in mind that I also interviewed my client before these conversations so I already had a sense of who he was and what "made him tick" but I needed more information from the people who work with him on a day to day basis. This is a powerful process because it is so thorough and focused on giving the candidate tangible feedback to reach their potential. When the candidate receives this feedback it is usually eye-opening and validating but more times than not, as in this case, it is career changing. That's our goal and our clients that engage in this process know that the investment in their talent is worth it. ![]() ![]() |
