Jumping on the bandwagon ... and starting our blog!

Welcome to the first blog post on the new ISHR Group website.  After landing on our home page and reading our welcome message, you know that this new site completes our transition from having separate websites for our legacy Incite Strategies and HR OptIn businesses into one seamless site.

Now the blog!  Our incredible web/tech/SEO partners in Seattle tell us that we need to have a blog presence.  To say we’ve been reluctant is an understatement (!) … until now.  We recognize the value. Our commitment is this: you will find us posting entries on a (somewhat!) regular basis.  Sometimes we may be commenting on the latest in leadership, our services, or experiences we have had with clients.  Other times we may simply be adding commentary about one of our “quotes of the week” (a new feature we added to our home page).  And yet other times, we may be commenting on whatever else happens to pop into our heads and manages to make it onto the ‘paper’ in front of us.

Several months ago, I attended a session presented by UPS which basically summarized “Everything you Need to Know about Social Media.” We learned about the pros and cons of Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, blogging, etc. I had two take-aways! One, it’s time-consuming to keep up with all these things. Two, studies show that ‘readers’ or ‘followers’ prefer to see a mix of business and personal updates and content. The concept that people want to be engaged not only on a business level, but also on a personal level, resonates with us.  This is one of the principal beliefs in our leadership practice.  Leaders need to be authentic and connect with people – on their team, their suppliers, customers, partners – in a real and honest way.

Taking that lead, I will end this first blog post with some personal content (and now that it’s out there, you can help hold us accountable).  This is breaking news – we (the partners at ISHR Group – Stacy, Ellen and me) decided this morning that we are going to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure journey through our dynamic home-town of Atlanta. From the Civil War in the 1860s to Civil Rights in the 1960s, Atlanta continues to be a place of continual change.  It’s a match made in heaven. At ISHR Group, we love change.  We love a good challenge. We love to give back to our community.  We love to help women.  What a perfect partnership.

Stay tuned for more …
